It was fine. For our last five or six home purchases, we usually find homes to look at before any realtor contacts us. We then contact the realtor to get in to look at the property. I suspect most homes these days are purchased the same way. I think it's probably rare to find a realtor that actually actively seeks our homes and contacts you with possibilities. Most of them set up automatic searches that just push the new listings to you that fit your requirements. However, if you have special requests - like enough land to build a shop, or if the deed restrictions allow an outbuilding - it is our experience that realtors don't know the answers to those questions and usually can't help you find the answers. Nearly all the information they provide is available online now. When starting the home buying process we were so nervous and unsure of what we were doing.
